About Joolz
Hello/Croeso , I'm Joolz, an artist, illustrator and maker living on the island of Anglesey.
A designer of unique curiosities, I make art, handmade books and other items using my own photography, found items, stitching , vintage papers and discarded treasures.
My Creatures/Anifeil Anwes are small three dimensional sculptures made using vintage fabrics, hand made clothing, and recycled materials. They all have a story to tell, and help me navigate the paths of life.
Also, I redesign thrifted and vintage garments into pieces of wearable art, and make unique jewellery from found items. My grandmother taught me to knit and sew as a child.
My painted work features portraits., horses and Anglesey-inspired work in a naive style. I have continued to develop my practice since childhood.

Home, folk art, slow living, quietly observing the seasons, found items, ancient sites, horses, storytelling, language, historic clothing, old architecture and textiles are constant inspiration.
I'm inspired by the Island of Anglesey where I have visited since childhood.
In 2025 Anglesey became our permanent home .... but it has always felt so in my heart.
The Welsh have a word, "Hiraeth" which has no direct English equivalent, but roughly means "a deep longing for something, especially ones home"
This applies in the context of Wales or Welsh culture.
I have felt this longing for most of my life.
I now feel I am home, and at the same time, starting a new chapter.
Recurrent themes of diversity, life's journey, Identity, things of comfort, emotions and slow living are explored in my work
